2010 Auburn Football!

Yesterday started Jack's second season of Auburn football. He's been forced to prepare for it since last season ended, so I'm sure he was very excited. He's been practicing his "Touchdown Auburn!" (hands straight up in the air), clapping during the Auburn fight song, and pitching a fit when we ask him, "What do we do when Alabama scores?" :-)

We headed out to the tailgate around 9:30 that morning, and he immediately wanted to walk around and check everything out, plus tell everyone around us "Hey!". Daddy, Mommy, Granna, and Poppy all took turns following him around, but he pretty much stayed close to the tailgate. Besides walking around checking everything out, he watched some ESPN, ate some Cheezits, and played with Poppy, plus some toys under the sport tent Poppy put up for him. Since he usually takes a morning nap, and was obviously too busy to take one on a gameday morning, he was pretty tired by 11:30, so around 12:00 I took him to Daddy Mer and Mama Becky's condo so he could take a nap. He wasn't ready to leave, but we promised him he'd be back later that afternoon.

Playing with Poppy

Playing in the tent with Granna and Mommy. We really are having more fun that it looks, she and I just didn't know we were in the picture! :-)

Once we got to the condo, he was very exhausted, but of course wanted to play for a few minutes first. He was so glad to see Daddy Mer and Mama Becky, plus my sister Amy, brother-in-law Jeff, and their kids Jake and Brooke were there, so he was excited to see them and play with them, too. He finally gave into his exhaustion and took about an hour long nap.

Once he woke up, he had some lunch, played a little more with Jake and Brooke, and then we headed back over to the tailgate. We of course got him changed into his official gameday outfit (an AU jersey), and he looked so cute! It was a little big since it was a size 2T, but he can grow into it.

The tailgate was a little busier now and filled with a lot more people!! He still wanted to walk around and tell everyone "Hey!", but now he was really interested in the large blow-up Aubie we have in front of our tents. I'm not sure he understood exactly what it was, but he loved playing with his tail and leaning into it (since it bounced him back up!)

He also played some more with Poppy and Granna, plus our friends Leah and Eric came by to say hey.

When 3:30 rolled around, we got out the stroller and all headed towards the AU Bookstore. We wanted to find Jack some AU crocs, or maybe a hat for Daddy, but they didn't have anything we really liked, so we left and headed towards Tiger Walk. Jack went to Tiger Walk on his first gameday last year (when he was just 10 weeks old), so since he may not remember that, we were excited to take him back this year. We got there in time to hear the band play and see some of the players walk into the stadium. Daddy put Jack on his shoulders and danced with him to the music. He seemed to like it, but he was also a little overwhelmed by everything.

After Tiger Walk, we walked Jack back to the condo so he could play more with Mama Becky and Brooke before going to bed around 8. He didn't get to go to this game with Mommy and Daddy, but hopefully one game soon.

The actual game was a lot of fun, and we were glad to celebrate a 52-26 victory over Arkansas State.

Overall, it was a long day, but a very fun day. Jack was a lot more interactive this season's kickoff than last year's, but again, he was just 10 weeks old then (picture below). Sweet boy is growing way too fast on us!
