15 Month Check-Up

Jack had his 15 month check-up at the pediatrician Tuesday morning. He was in a very good mood in the waiting room, and even on our way back to his exam room, but once we had to lie him down to take his clothes off, he got very upset. He doesn't like to lie down to get his diaper or clothes changed anyway, so this part was normal, but then before we could get him on the scale to weigh him, he went to the bathroom everywhere! :-( Once he was done, the nurses finally got to weigh him, and he was a whopping 28 lbs! Big boy!! They also were able to measure his length and head circumference, even with the fussiness and wiggling.

We had to wait a few minutes on the doctor, but once he was in, Jack calmed down and let him examine him. Everything looked great, and his ears even looked perfect! He was also glad to hear he was only drinking from a sippy cup now (no bottle since 2 months ago), and was proud he was talking/babbling a lot now, plus walking everywhere. Jack needed to get 4 shots at this visit, including the flu shot, so that wasn't fun, but we knew it was good for him!

Overall, the doctor's appointment was very hectic and stressful (for Jack, Mama Becky, and Mama), but he is very healthy and we are so blessed for that!! Here are all of his weights and measurements:

28 lbs 2 oz,, 31.5 inches long, and a 19.5 inch head circumference. He is still in the 75th percentile. (At birth he weighed 7 lbs 12 oz, was 19 3/4 inches long, and had a 14 inch head circumference.)

Here are a couple of pictures from his visit. The first one is very sweet, but the second one is more like how the appointment went, and how he felt. :-)

Auburn vs. South Carolina

Another fun weekend of football! We went back down to Auburn this past weekend for the South Carolina game and we had a blast! We actually went to the Opelika High School game on Friday night and Jack loved it! He sat in his daddy's lap for a while just watching the game. He especially loved the bands at halftime! He only stayed until the end of halftime, then his Granna took him home for a bath and bed. It's probably a good thing he didn't stay until the end since Opelika lost to Prattville by 3 points! :-(

On Saturday morning, Jack and I went over to Daddy Mer and Mama Becky's condo so he could take his morning nap there. After he slept for a couple of hours, we had lunch and visited with our family there.

Uncle Jim and Dr. Branch

We then drove over to the tailgate to hangout there and eat some more! Jack just loves being out there and walking around everywhere!

It was very hot outside, so a couple of times we put him in his stroller and walked him around, and eventually we met up with my friends Brooke and Naomi, and Naomi's little boy Patrick who is 18 months old. Patrick and Jack haven't seen each other in a year, so it was fun to watch them walk around and play together.

Patrick was a sweet hugger!

Once we left there, we went by Jack's Pops' tailgate, then met up with my sister to give her Jack so he could stay at the condo while Kurt and I went to the game.

We usually sit with my family during the game, but Kurt's friend Trey had 2 extra seats on the 50 yard line, so we sat there and this was our view! Thanks again Trey!

Here is the scoreboard after Auburn beat South Carolina 35-27!

On Sunday, we left the condo around 11 and headed out towards Kurt's grandparents' house. On our way out, we drove by Toomer's corner and it was still full of toilet paper, even after it had rained!! Once we got to their house, Jack played for a while with Granny and Granddaddy, plus his second cousins Katelinn and Matthew who were there. After eating lunch, we headed back to Birmingham and the little man conked out!

Finally asleep after a long weekend

Thanks a lot to Granna and Poppy for letting us stay with them, and for watching Jack while we stayed for the rest of the Opelika game, and then had a yogurt date afterwards! Thanks also to Mama Becky and Daddy Mer for letting us stay at the condo, too, and to Mama Becky and Amy for watching Jack during the Auburn game so Kurt and I could go by ourselves. We appreciate y'alls help! We had a great weekend, and we are about to do it all over again this coming weekend!

Auburn vs. Clemson

This past weekend we all went down to Auburn for the big game against Clemson. The game was even more exciting because ESPN Gameday was going to be down there.

Once we got on campus, we walked over to where Gameday had set up. There were so many people over there, and it was neat to see them live and in person again!

After we left Gameday around 11 (after Corso picked AU to win!), we went over to Daddy Mer and Mama Becky's condo so Jack could take a nap. Before putting him down, though, we let him play around for a little bit with a football. These pictures also show him in his new big boy tennis shoes! This was his first day to wear them and he did so well walking around in them! Such a big boy!

After Jack woke up, we had lunch, then went back over to the tailgate to see everyone there. We stayed for about an hour, then walked around campus some more, then went back to the condo for Jack's second nap, and so he could stay there with Mama Becky during the game.

On our way to the stadium, we walked by the bookstore and met up with our friends Leah and Eric who had just gotten engaged the night before!! We are so excited for them and can't wait for the planning to start! Her ring is gorgeous and we were so glad to get to see them.

Before walking into the stadium, we saw the Gameday bus with a bunch of people around it, so we stopped to see what was going on, and then we saw Kirk Herbstreit get out of it! He was so close to us, so I had to get a quick picture!

Here we are celebrating the our 27-24 win over Clemson in overtime! It was such an intense game, and we were exhausted by the end! We had a great time, though, and appreciate Daddy Mer buying us tickets!

After the game ended, Gameday set up a desk on the field, so we walked down to field level to get a better look. We saw Erin Andrews sitting down eating some popcorn! She is even more gorgeous in person! We also saw Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit, and Gene Chizik doing their post-game interview.

Overall it was a tiring but fun day! We are so proud of our Auburn Tigers for fighting hard to come back and win! Thanks to Mama Becky and Aunt Deena for helping take care of our little man during the game! We appreciate it and love y'all!

Happy Birthday Grandmom!

My grandmom turned 92 last week, so Kurt, Jack, and I went to Montgomery Friday night to take dinner to her and celebrate with her. She looks so great to be 92, and we enjoyed seeing her and visiting with her for a little bit. She hadn't seen Jack in a while, either, so she was glad to see him walk around and talk some. She is such a sweet and special lady, and we were so glad to get to spend some time with her. We love her very much!

Trip to see Mimi

Tuesday this week we went to see our Mimi up in Hartselle. We hadn't seen her since before Jack's birthday, so we were definitely due a visit. Mimi hadn't even seen him walk yet! We had a great time visiting and all playing together.

Jack wasn't really sure what this goose was, but he had a fun time playing on it!

Mommy and Daddy's Anniversary Trip

This past weekend, Kurt and I had a get-away to Atlanta to celebrate our anniversary. We left Saturday morning, and once we checked into our hotel, we walked around downtown and had lunch at the Peachtree Plaza.

Our hotel, The Westin Peachtree Plaza

That afternoon we went to watch the Braves play the Cardinals. As we walked into the park, we saw firetrucks lined up in honor of September 11th. They also had fireman and policeman walk out onto the field so we could applaud and honor them.

Once the game started, we had a great time cheering on the Braves, plus eating some great ballpark food! We had to leave at the end of the 7th inning since we had dinner reservations, but the Braves were ahead 3-2 so we thought we had it won. However, when we got back to the hotel, the Cardinals had tied it up, and they went into extra innings! The Braves finally hit a 3-run hr in the 12th to win it! We hate we missed such a great ending, but we already had plans to eat dinner at Morton's.

Here is the mascot Homer hanging out near us in the stands

Dinner at Morton's was delicious! We told them through our reservations that we were celebrating our 4th anniversary, so they had a special menu printed just for us. We both had steak and split an order of garlic mashed potatoes, and then our waiter brought us a complimentary chocolate lava cake! Everything was so amazing!

Before we headed home on Sunday, we went over to the infamous World of Coca Cola. We took the tour and learned a lot about the history of Coke. Our favorite part, of course, was the Taste It room! :-) It had over 60 different flavors for everyone to try, and some were very good, some not so good. If you go, don't try the Beverly flavor. Yikes.

We had such a GREAT time together in Atlanta, but of course we missed our little man! We really appreciate Daddy Mer and Mama Becky for keeping him while we were gone. We know he had a blast with them, and it was easier on us to know he was in good hands! Thanks again!
