Weekend Fun

This weekend was loaded with friends and fun! We started it off on Friday by having lunch with Daniel and Sarah Taylor from Opelika and their precious baby boy Noah David. Noah David was due on June 25th when Jack was due on July 11th, but Jack came on June 26th and Noah David came on July 2nd! Sarah wasn't as miserable as I was, though, so she welcomed him coming a week late, but Jack knew how much his mommy wanted him to come early, so he started obeying in the womb! :) It has been wonderful having a friend like Sarah to be pregnant with and now a nursing mom with! We are so blessed to have them in our lives and we cherish their friendship.

Friday night we took Jack to his first football game! We went to the Spain Park vs. Opelika football game at Spain Park here in Birmingham. We were having a good time watching the game and hanging out with Uncle Clay and Auntie Em, but it started pouring down rain during halftime, and the game was called to avoid injuries (since it was just a jamboree game). So we somehow managed to keep Jack dry under the umbrellas, but hopefully his next game will go much more smoothly!

Saturday night we went to "Stokin' the Fire", a barbecue competition down at Sloss Furnace in downtown Birmingham. We met up with our friends Keith and Lindsey and Alana and Patrick there, and even though we were a little late for the free barbecue tasting, we still had a great time and enjoyed some good barbecue. We also found out Lindsey and Keith are now expecting their first baby! Congrats to them! Now we have more friends to enjoy babies with! :-)

On Sunday, Kurt got a boys' day out to play golf while Jack and I went grocery shopping and hungout at home, but that night we had some fun family time! Daddy and Jack had some good bonding time together in their favorite chair, and then we gave the stinky boy a bath!

2 Month Check-Up

Jack had his 2 month check-up at the pediatrician yesterday and we got a good report! He said Jack looks healthy and seems to be doing great! He weighed a whopping 13.25 lbs and was 22 inches long! That's up from 7 lbs 12 oz and 19 3/4 inches at birth! He's our big, healthy boy! :-) He also had to get his first shots, but he did surprisingly well and even cried less than his mommy!

Blakely's Dedication and Jack's Tummy Time

Over the weekend we went down to Opelika (Jack's second trip) to see family and be there Sunday for Blakely's dedication at First Baptist. Jack was so excited for his cousin, and Kurt and I were proud of her too! She looked so beautiful and we were glad to be a part of it! We love you Blakely!

This was also the first time to get a picture of all 4 grandchildren together! Jake is 6, Brooke is 1, Blakely is 10 months, and Jack is 7 weeks.

Yesterday we started our tummy time! We first did some exercises and sang some songs to get him really happy, and then I put him on the floor on his tummy to see how he would do. He did really well at first and held his head up really well a couple of times, but after a minute or so he got mad and fussy, so we called it quits for the day. We will keep trying a little bit everyday.

And here's a video of our tummy time!

7 Week Update

Jack is already 7 weeks old! That seems unbelievable! He just keeps growing and growing and getting more and more precious (if that's even possible!) :). Kurt also started his new job last week, too, and so far it's going really well! It's been really hard for him leaving Jack, but I took him up there 4/5 days last week so his daddy could see him! I really appreciate Kurt going back to work everyday, especially now that it allows me to stay home with Jack!! I'm officially a stay at home mom now and I'm so thrilled! It's such a blessing that Kurts job will provide for all 3 of us so I can stay home and take care of Jack full time! God is so good! I'm sad to leave all my girls at Over The Mountain Rehab, but I appreciate how understanding they are since this is really what I want to do.

A little over a week ago, we got a visit from my really good friend Amy Floyd who had been in China for a year. It was so good to see her and have her meet baby Jack! She was gone my entire pregnancy, and was supposed to be back for Jack's birth since she was coming home end of June, but that didn't happen since Jack decided to come early (which I'm still very grateful for!) :-) I'm at least glad we got to see her for a few hours since she has already gone back to China for another year to serve the Lord. Please keep her in your prayers.

Jack goes back to see his pediatrician this Wednesday for his 2 month check-up. He has to get shots this time, so hopefully he will do well (and I will too!) I'm also interested to see his weight and length now that he's gotten so much bigger! He's a very healthy boy!

Thank you for all your prayers over the last few months while Kurt was looking for a job. We are so blessed Kurt got a great job here in Birmingham so we didn't have to move, and one that allows me to stay home to raise our baby boy! God is so good to us! Also, don't forget to check out our updated pictures on webshots.

6 Week Postpartum Appointment

We had our 6 week postpartum appointment at the doctor today and everything was great!! We got a great report and Dr. McKenzie was very pleased. We even took little Jack to show him off to everyone, and of course they all talked about how beautiful he is! Today is also Jack's 6 week birthday! I can't believe it was 6 weeks ago today that we had him! Time flies and it makes me sad how fast he is growing! It's been so much fun to watch him everyday, though to see what new things he will do! He holds his head up really well already, and we'll even catch him smiling at least once a day now! (Usually the smile is from gas, but we will take what we can get!) :-) He is more alert and starting to recognize us, at least I think! :-) He's such a wonderful baby and we are so blessed to be his parents! God is so good!

Speaking of how good God is, Kurt starts his job this Monday! We are all very excited and so thankful God has provided us with such a great opportunity for Kurt. Thanks to everyone so much for all your prayers and we will let you know how it goes!

Kurt got a job!!!

Yes, Kurt found a job! God is so good! He will be working for MEDSEEK, a company here in Birmingham in the Galleria tower. He starts this coming Monday, August 10 and will do programming and technical support for them. It is a great opportunity for him and we are so thankful God provided him with a good job. God is so faithful and we owe Him everything! Thank you for all your prayers!!

Jack is doing great, too! He is also very excited about his Daddy's new job, even though he will miss him so much during the day! He understands Daddy isn't abandoning him, but working to take care of him. (He's a very smart boy!) :)

5 Weeks Old!

Jack is already 5 weeks old as of Friday! I can't believe how fast the time is flying! He's still doing really well and still sleeping a lot everyday, so Kurt and I are still getting some decent sleep! We are really enjoying getting to know him more and more everyday! He has started to really focus on us and follow us and he now makes a lot of cooing sounds! He's also getting really big! We don't go back to the doctor until August 19th, so I'm sure he will have grown a lot in length and weight by then.

We were able to go see Mimi and Poppy up in Hartselle last week, and I know Mimi loved holding him the whole 3 hours we were there! He was very good while we were there, too, especially considering that was his first out of town trip!

He has also already been to his first wedding! Hank and Abby Mann were married last Saturday in Alexander City and we were able to take the little man! His Granna bought him a sweet outfit and I've posted some pictures to show how precious he looked!

We may have some updates on Kurt's job situation soon (since he's been interviewing so much lately), but we'll mention that next time. Please keep praying, though!!
