Recent Random Pictures

Our sweet Daddy Mer recently gave us a cd of pictures of Jack, some from back in August, so I had to share some of them.

Auburn vs. LSU Weekend

This past weekend we were back in Auburn for another big football weekend!! This was an even bigger football weekend since Opelika High School (Kurt's alma mater) was playing their neighbor rival Auburn High School! Jack had already been to one Opelika game this season, and since he loved it so much we decided to take him back. He sat in Daddy's lap for most of the game and seemed to have a great time! He kept putting his arms up for "touchdown", even when no one was scoring! :-) Opelika ended up losing the game by 5 points, but we still had fun!

Since the game Saturday was at 2:30, we had to get out to the tailgate around 9 to make it worthwhile! Jack had fun playing with his ball and other toys we brought, plus grazing on all the food that was there! We had a shrimp boil plus some other dips and desserts and everything was amazing! Around noon Jack started to get sleepy and fussy, so Kurt and I strolled him around campus to see other friends and family before giving him to Mama Becky for naptime at the condo. We really appreciate her keeping him for us during the game! Thanks Mama Becky!

I had some college friends come visit us at the tailgate! It was so great to see them! Love y'all Leah, Brooke, and Anna!

The game was a very tight and interesting one! We were so glad Auburn came out with another win to now be 8-0! Seems crazy and surreal, but also very awesome! Thanks Daddy Mer for the tickets! War Eagle!

We of course had to take Jack back to Toomer's to celebrate another huge SEC win! He had a little more fun this time since he now knew what he was doing! :-) We were also glad Granna could be there with us!

Auburn vs. Arkansas Weekend

We all had a very packed and fun-filled weekend this past weekend! We went down to Auburn Friday afternoon, had dinner at Momma Goldberg's, then Kurt, Uncle Clay, and I went to the opening of the Auburn Arena while Granna and Poppy kept Jack at their house. The Harlem Globe Trotters were there, plus a special appearance of Charles Barkley! We had a great time!

Saturday morning we went to Blakely's 2nd birthday party!! She had a fun jump jump there, plus other fun toys to play with! Jack attempted the jump jump when the other big kids weren't in there, but he still had a hard time getting his balance, but he seemed to like it! We had a great time and can't believe sweet Blakely is 2!

Saturday afternoon Kurt, Daddy Mer, Amy, Jake and I went to the Auburn vs. Arkansas game while Jack stayed at the condo with Mama Becky. It was one of the most exciting games I've ever been to! Arkansas definitely played great and made it interesting, but that 4th quarter was amazing! I was so proud of our Auburn Tigers! We were so excited after the win that we walked back to the condo to get Jack, strolled all the way to Toomer's Corner to help roll it, and then came all the way back to get our car! At least we got some great pictures! Sweet Jack's first Toomer's experience and we think he liked it! :-)

Sunday we went over to Granny and Granddaddy's for steaks and playtime! It was such a gorgeous day, so besides eating inside we played outside the whole time we were there!

Jack's First Braves Game

This past Sunday we went to the 3rd playoff game between the Braves and the Giants. My dad took us all and we had such a great time! This was Jack's first Major League Baseball game, and we were excited to take him to experience something like that. We even had a Braves outfit to put him in, and even though it was a size 6-9 months, it fit him! He was definitely the cutest Braves fan we'd ever seen! Here he is getting ready for Papa to pick us up.

We got to Atlanta with a little over an hour left until the first pitch, so once we found a parking spot, we headed towards Turner Field. Our seats were in the top row of the upper deck, but right above home plate, so they were pretty good seats. Jack enjoyed all the pre-game festivities, especially while holding his new foam tomahawk! He even would wave it around and do his own version of the Braves chant! :-)

Jack was very good throughout the whole game, but we did find different ways to entertain him (since he doesn't quite understand baseball yet!) We were sitting on the very top row, but there was a concrete walkway behind us, so several times one of us would take him up there and walk around with him. We also took him down to the concession stand area so he could walk around some and stay busy. However, since he wasn't getting his normal afternoon nap, and since he was moving around a bunch, he started to get very sleepy towards the 5-6 innings. He laid his head down on Kurt for a few minutes, with paci and froggy, and even closed his eyes a couple of times, but then the crowd would scream and it would jolt him and keep him from sleeping. He did realize how much he loves coke zero, though (drinking it through the straw also kept him occupied), so we think that caffeine helped give him his second wind to get through the rest of the game. :-)

During the bottom of the 8th inning, the Braves were still down 1-0 to the Giants, but then Eric Hinske hit a 2-run homerun to go up 2-1! The whole stadium went wild, but Jack stayed calm in Papa's arms the entire time! We thought Papa holding him was the good luck charm, until the Braves couldn't get the last strike of the last out in the top of the 9th, so Kurt and I took turns holding him, and neither worked. The Braves gave up 2 runs and couldn't make up for it. It was so sad to have that comeback, and then have it taken away.

Even though the Braves lost, the whole day was so much fun, and we were so glad Jack got to experience something so great and memorable. We really appreciate Papa taking us, and we loved spending the whole day with him. Thanks again, Papa, and we love you!

Early Birthday Celebration

Friday night we went to Pizza Hut with my family to celebrate the 5 October birthdays in our family. We have Blakely's on the 12th, Papa and Sherbo's on the 18th, Brooke's on the 19th, and mine on the 30th. We had a great time with everybody, but we missed Brooke and her family who couldn't make it. We loved the pizza, but of course our favorite part was the yummy birthday cake! Thanks Papa and Sherbo for taking everyone out, even though it was y'alls celebration, too!
