Jack's 3rd Birthday Party

We had so much fun at Jack's 3rd Birthday Party a few weeks ago!  It was on Saturday, June 23rd at Treetop Adventure here in Birmingham.  The party started off with jumping on the inflatables, then playing putt-putt, then having cake and opening presents, then playing in the arcade!  Jack had a lot of family and friends come and we all had a blast!

Having fun jumping and sliding

The putt-putt course was very nice!

Sweet Lola wasn't sure what to do with the club and ball, but she sure looked cute trying!

Blakely taking a break in the shade!  It sure was hot that day!

Sawyer looked very official in his visor!

 Sweet little ones playing together

Jack showing Hunter a few pointers

"I'm done" he said!

Cake and present time!  Jack's favorite movie these days is Madagascar, so of course that's what kind of cake he wanted!

Marching around in half of his new marching band costume!

Time for arcade games!

The kids mastering skeeball

Shelley and Hunter taking out the bad guys

Jack trying to see over the wheel to drive the race car

Jake found a motorcycle game and Guitar Hero!  So glad he found something he liked doing, especially since he was by far the oldest kid there!

Jack and Uncle Jim came by to challenge Jake

Baby Abby wants to play!

Granna is such a good sport!  She got inside the tiny house to play "take your order" with Jack!  Good thing she's tiny, too!

Sweet Brooks couldn't play any of the big kid games, but he loved chewing on the camera cord!

So glad I got to hold this sweet girl for a few minutes!

After the party, Daddy Mer took our family to lunch at Hamburger Heaven to keep the party going! Granna, Poppy, Uncle Clay, and Brooks were able to join us, too!

Here is a video with highlights from the party:

We really appreciate all of our family and friends who came to celebrate Jack!  We had a great time at the party and love y'all very much! Thanks also to Daddy Mer for all the wonderful pictures he took at the party!  They all turned out great!

Baby Charlie Update: Glucose Test

A little over 2 weeks ago I went in to see the doctor for my 28 week check-up, plus the glucose test.  Everything looked really good with baby Charlie (heartbeat was great, measuring on time, etc), plus everything with me looked great (weight, blood pressure).  I did have to have my glucose test, so after drinking the nasty sugary drink (at least it was fruit punch), and waiting an hour for it to work, they pricked my finger and I was well below the number they consider bad, so I passed!  Hooray!  I did have to have bloodwork taken anyway, just to make sure I wasn't anemic, and have the Rhogam shot because of my bloodtype, but at the end of the appointment, all was great!  I did feel like I was tortured during that appointment,  though, so I'm sure I'll ask Daddy to treat me with a pedicure soon! :-)

Seriously though, I'm so grateful for another great check-up and for God continuing to take care of Charlie and me!  He provides for us everyday and blesses us beyond anything we could imagine!

Father's Day 2012

Father's Day this year was a very special day!  Jack and I worked hard to make it a great day for Daddy, and we believe we succeeded!

The week before, Mama Becky and Daddy Mer helped me take some pictures of Jack for a present for Daddy.  It was 3 different poses with 3 different signs to make "I Love Daddy".  He cooperated very well and the finished product was priceless!  When Kurt opened his presents on Father's Day we could tell he loved it!  We also gave him some other great gifts, but I think that was his favorite!

We started the day off by making Daddy breakfast in bed!  We made him cinnamon rolls and fresh cantaloupe, plus a real Coke, which is one of his favorites!  He loved it and we enjoyed the food, too!  He got to eat and open gifts in bed before it was time to get ready for church.

After church we went back home to change clothes so we could head out to Oak Mountain State Park which was Daddy's choice for "his day."  He has gotten on an outdoor kick lately, so we thought we'd all go out there as a family and have some fun.

We of course had to eat lunch first, so we went to Moe's (where else?), then headed out to the state park. We started off at the beach there so Jack could play and swim in the water, but since it was really crowded, we got back in the car and followed signs for Peavine Falls.  We are all fans of waterfalls, and knew it would be a little ways to walk, but we weren't prepared for how long and how many hills! Daddy and Jack did really well, but 28 weeks preggo over here didn't do that well, and even fell once!  Thank goodness I just fell backwards and not on the belly!  We thought it would all be worth it, but the falls had pretty much dried up (not joking), so after the long hike there, we had to just turn around and head back, and that was all uphill!  It was hard to explain why the waterfall wasn't there, so we just told him it was turned off!  We definitely had some good laughs and bonding time, but it took me several days to recover!

Once we were completely exhausted, we headed over to Papa and Sherbo's house for dinner.  We got there with enough daylight to still play a while, then we had a wonderful dinner and Papa got to open his gifts.

We had such a great day and even though it was exhausting for me, I'm glad we got to do that for Daddy and he seemed to have a great time, so that's all that matters!  We thank God everyday for such a wonderful husband and daddy in our lives! We love him so much!
