Trip to Mississippi

A couple of weekends ago, Kurt, Jack, and I went with my family to Mississippi for the AU vs. Ole Miss game. My parents rented a 15 passenger van for all 12 of us, and we left around 4 pm that Friday and headed to Tupelo, MS. We loaded all 3 babies in the front seat so they could be closer to the dvd players. They looked so cute! Jack and Brooke even held hands at one point!

We stopped in Fulton, MS to eat supper at Wendy's. All the babies were getting really hungry, and I don't think I've ever seen Jack this excited to see fries! :-) It was also the night before my birthday, so Mama Becky bought some bride's cake cupcakes from Edgar's to celebrate (we also celebrated Brooke and Blakely's October birthdays, too.) They were so good! After dinner we drove the 20 more minutes to Tupelo where we stayed at the Hampton Inn.

Saturday morning (My 27th Birthday!), we all met for breakfast in the hotel lobby, and then while everyone was back in their rooms getting ready for the day, Jim and Blakely came in our room to play and read books!

Once everyone was ready, we went to an early lunch at Chili's there in Tupelo to celebrate my birthday some more! Everything was delicious, as always, but at the end they brought out a huge chocolate fudge brownie with ice cream just for me! Yum!

After lunch we headed back to the hotel so the 3 babies could take a nap. The game wasn't until 5 that afternoon, but it was still an hour away, so we had to let them rest before we left. We all met back at the van at 2:30, and Mr. Auburn was ready to go! :-)

Since the babies had to nap, and we didn't get to Oxford, MS until around 4, it was hard to find a parking spot close to the stadium. Once we found one, it was literally a mile or further away, and poor Mama Becky had to walk that far on her ankle! She broke it over 6 months ago, but it's still not completely healed, so she definitely wins the trooper award! The 3 babies all had strollers, so that was easy! Once we got to our seats it was still 15 minutes until kickoff, so we at least made it! Here are some highlights with everyone from the game, and even some pictures of the game!

As the scoreboard below shows, AU beat Ole Miss 51-31! It was such an awesome game, and definitely a great birthday present for me! :-) After the game, the only full sections of the stadium were the 3 AU sections! Our fans were still there and were pumped! Our players and even Gene Chizik ran down to the endzone AU section to celebrate!

The next morning (Halloween) we left Tupelo to head home, but stopped back in Fulton for lunch, but this time at McDonald's. Jack did get excited about these fries too, but mostly about the new sweet and sour dipping sauce for his nuggets! After the kids finished eating, we all went out to the playground the play before loading back up in the van. Jack couldn't go up in the playpen, but enjoyed walking around the bottom of it near the slide. Once we loaded up and left, the 3 little ones looked very sleepy and ready to be home, but still did so well!

We had such a fun time with everyone and appreciate all Mama Becky and Daddy Mer did for us to make it such a memorable trip! We were so proud of how all 3 babies and Jake did, and we can't wait until the next family trip! Thanks again for everything!
