Monday we had a big scare with Charlie and me. I tripped in our yard over a rain gutter and bricks, and fell right on my belly and face! :-( Yes, just call me Grace! I was in so much pain, but mostly scared for Charlie since he got a hard hit. I immediately called the doctor and they wanted me to come right in. Kurt met me there of course and they monitored Charlie and me for about 30 minutes, and he seemed to be doing great! Praise the Lord! His heartbeat and movements were great, so that was a huge relief. The doctor was concerned still, though, and wanted to admit me to Labor and Delivery to monitor me for 4 more hours, plus run a certain blood test. The test is called Kleihauer-Betke and it is designed to see if any of the baby's blood cells were mixed with the mother's, and in my case, that would be a very bad thing since my blood is negative and his may be positive from Kurt's blood. The test took over 4 hours but did show some of the cells had mixed, so I had to get another Rhogam shot that protects the baby from my blood. I had this shot back at 28 weeks, but they wanted to give me another one just as a precaution.
The whole time we were being monitored in Labor and Delivery Charlie was moving fine and his heartbeat was fine, so we were very happy about that. I even started having contractions, some pretty severe every 5-6 minutes, but the doctor and nurses weren't concerned and pretty much said they were just Braxton Hicks from the trauma. It would have been a great time for them to be real contractions since we were already there and obviously ready for Charlie to come out, but it wasn't God's timing, so we were sent home around 9. Praise God Charlie and I are both ok after such a traumatic experience!
Me giving a "thumbs up" before we left! All was ok! :-)
Jack FINALLY pooped in the potty at Granna's house on Saturday! I hate I missed it since I was at home, but he called me right after and was so excited and proud of himself! He knew that once he did that we could go to Chuck E. Cheese and get Gigi's cupcakes, so that's what we did for lunch on Sunday! Mama Becky and Daddy Mer got to come, too (plus we appreciate them paying for everything and bringing Gigi's!), and we all had a blast! We are so proud of him!
This past Saturday, Daddy and Jack went to Auburn for the day for the Dirty Tiger Challenge. It was a 5K mud run, very similar to his previous mud run back in March. This time there were 15 people in his heat, and he finished in 32 minutes and in 3rd place! We are so proud of him! Pops watched Jack while Daddy ran, and Jack even got to finish the race at the end, too!
For some reason there was an army truck out there, so Jack got to play with a gun and helmet!
Here is the ice pit Daddy had to run through towards the end of the race. He had to get on his belly during it because there was barb wire to crawl under! Crazy!
After the race, Daddy and Jack went to go see Granny and Granddaddy for a little bit, then met Granna for lunch at Cheeburger Cheeburger. Jack was in need of a nap after lunch, so he went back to Granna's to sleep, then they all went out to dinner and to be a part of the downtown Auburn kickoff party celebrating the upcoming game vs. Clemson! Aubie was there, too!
After that was over, Jack and Daddy came back home to Mommy. So glad they had a great day together and we are proud of Daddy for doing so well in the race!
One of Jack's best friends, Hunter Futrell (our friends Shelley and John's little boy) had his 2nd birthday party this past weekend! It was a nautical theme and had a super fun blowup waterslide to play on! We all had such a great time and can't believe Hunter is already 2!
Hunter got a Gator from his Gran and Poppy and was so sweet to let Jack ride on it with him and drive it, too!
Last Thursday we had our 36 week checkup at the doctor. This appointment was the beginning of when they check me to see if I'm progressing any, and I actually was! I was even further progressed at 36 weeks than when I was 36 weeks with Jack! It was pretty much the same numbers I had when I was 37 weeks with Jack, and then Jack came a few days later (at 37 weeks 6 days). The doctor said he definitely thinks Charlie will be here by 39 weeks, so that would be by Sept. 4, but could be earlier! We are actually 37 weeks 2 days now and go back tomorrow for another checkup, so maybe we will have more good news then! We are so ready for him to be here! Not too much longer! :-)
I have been so blessed to have my friends and co-workers both throw me "Baby Sprinkles" for baby Charlie! Ever since we had Jack's baby clothes and gear stolen out of our storage unit 2 years ago, we knew we'd eventually need new things if we had another boy, so we are so grateful for everyone pitching in to help us!
A couple of weeks ago on August 9th, my best girlfriends got everyone together to eat at PF Chang's to celebrate Charlie! They all pitched in to get a Buy Buy Baby gift card and some precious baby clothes! They also got some petit fours from Savage's and they all had the letter "C" on them! Too cute! I have the best friends and I appreciate all they did for us! We had such a great time together, too!
On Monday of this week, my co-workers threw me a sprinkle as well! We had Newk's brought in for lunch, plus they each got Charlie a gift! They all got him some cute clothes and wipes, plus Stephanie made him a cute "onesie cupake" and some tie-dye onesies! Too cute! We had a fun time celebrating Charlie and I appreciate them doing so much for me!
Thanks to everyone so much for all you've done to help us get ready for Charlie! We also appreciate Papa and Sherbo for getting us a new carseat travel system! Now we can bring Charlie home from the hospital when he decides to come! Thanks also to Granna and Poppy for all the clothes they've already bought him and washed for us! :-) We are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends!
Last Monday night, August 6th, we got to take Jack to Brookwood Hospital for the Big Brother/Big Sister Tour. We were so excited for him to see where he was born and where baby Charlie is going to be born! He did so well listening to the nurse "Miss Meredith" and he learned a lot about what to do with babies and what not to do.
Here he is waiting for the class to start. He was given an informative coloring book!
Listening to Miss Meredith go over the 3 main rules about holding a baby and keeping the baby safe.
1) Wash your hands before holding the baby
2) Ask Mommy and Daddy to hold the baby
3) Never climb on the baby bed
Jack got to hold the baby first! Yes, Mommy was a basket case during this part! It was so sweet!
Jack graduated from his Big Brother class and got a certificate! He can officially be a big brother now! Charlie is so lucky!
Saturday night, Jack pulled up a stool and sat on it to play his Ukulele (from Papa and Sherbo), and gave us a 30 minute concert. It was hilarious and very entertaining, so we had to share some of the highlights! :-)
On Saturday July 28th, we went to see the Braves play the Phillies at Turner Field with Papa, Jeff, and Jake. This is the same crew as last year and we had just as much fun this time! We had a blast and made some great memories, plus the Braves won! Papa was so sweet to take us and pay for everything! We love and appreciate you, Papa!
Yes, we got to go back to Orange Beach, and less than 2 weeks after we got back from the trip with Mama Becky and Daddy Mer! How lucky were we? We even got to stay at the beautiful Phoenix West again! :-) We got there Thursday night July 12th and stayed through Tuesday morning July 17th. Of course we had a blast!
When we got there on Thursday, we all had gifts on our beds from Granna and Poppy! Jack had a new penguin pool toy, plus a brand new #23 Auburn jersey! Jack put it on immediately and looked exactly like Ontario McCalebb! :-) He will love having that to wear this fall to all the football games!

Thanks SO MUCH to Granna and Poppy for taking us all to the beach! We had such a great time with the whole family and can't wait to go back next year! We appreciate all y'all do for us and we love y'all!
